Understand the option
Softening is different from filtration
A conventional ion-exchange softener exchanges hardness minerals—primarily calcium and magnesium—for sodium or potassium ions. Its main purpose is controlling mineral scale and improving soap performance. It is not a disinfectant, carbon filter, or universal contaminant-removal device. “Salt-free softener” is often marketing shorthand for conditioning technologies that may alter scale behavior but do not remove hardness by ion exchange. Proposals should state whether the device actually reduces measured hardness and how performance is verified.
What should a Coral Springs homeowner verify?
Ask the provider to connect this recommendation to your actual water provider, measured conditions, peak household demand, plumbing access, equipment specification, maintenance schedule, and written exclusions. A technology is useful only when the proposed configuration addresses a defined goal at the home’s real flow rate.
